Education in Remote VillageS

There are many small villages in India and we have assisted several projects with their aims.

By working with a national NGO, Bharath Abhyudaya Seva Samithi (BASS) we have provided computer based educational equipment for around 200 children in the village of Dasaripalem in the Gunter District. This is supplemented by school bags and stationery. We have supported similar projects elsewhere.

BASS works to bring relief and opportunity to rural and urban communities negatively impacted by poverty and specially to improve the quality of life of children to become good human beings by having access to the right kind of education. BASS is working for the social, educational, health care, economic development and emergency relief and rehabilitation of the poor specially for the Scheduled caste (SC), the Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Backward communities, irrespective of their caste, creed and religion. BASS is committed to people’s participatory development processes. People concerned and affected are involved in the entire process of project identification, development, execution, monitoring and evaluation.

BASS write: "Thank you so much to SICEWT, UK for the generous support to provide digital education facilities to the slum school, Guntur, India. With your support we were equipped with two latest version computers, one LED Television and one public speaking system facilities to our slum school to provide the best education with best learning opportunity to the 150 slum children. Now our teachers are effectively teaching primary education with the latest updated clear understanding methods to all the children with the support of digital education with internet facility. Daily school attendance of the children is increasing and children’s learning capacities are also improving. Thank you SICEWT"

Tribals Transformation, India (TTI) work across India. We have helped them in NW Andhra Predesh.

TTI write: Chikkerur is a remote place, not many NGO’s are interested in such faraway places. Chikkerur Crèche was started in 1999 to help tribal and poor children. TTI believe that education and health care are important for poor and needy children. Education would bring self-esteem and health care gives them well-being.

We approached SICEWT, and after scrutinizing submitted documents, released a much-needed booster of £2,100.

We immediately added eggs and milk to the menu. Colouring books, pencils, alphabet and number blocks were given to 49 Children.

TTI and all our children and their families are grateful for the generous sponsorship by SICEWT to carry on the good work that was started here long ago.
